As part of a pilot program in early 2018, the police department in Fremont, CA bought a used Tesla Model S patrol car to reduce greenhouse gases and reduce the cost of gasoline. The Tesla required several modifications to convert it to police use. Unfortunately, the Tesla didn't get fully charged before a police shift, and the officer ran out of battery while chasing a suspect on September 20, 2019. Maybe someone forgot to plug in the charger! You can hear the audio of the police chase here. Fortunately, other patrol cars were available to continue the chase, but the suspect got away. Don't count on this here in Kentucky!
